The John Mills Classical Guitar Tutor
In his tutor, John Mills takes his studies smoothly through fifty sections, illustrated with dozens of photographs, and featuring some aspects not mentioned in other tutors, dealing with choosing the instrument, holding it properly, understanding and then using the hands and fingers (not forgetting the all important section on nails and how to look after them). There are exercises on damping unwanted sounds and hints on memorising, plus basic harmony, tone production and tone colour, scale playing, barre technique and slurs. The student is introduced to the styles of 16th and 17th century Spain as well as English Renaissance music. Over thirty pieces of music, all of which have guidance on technique and interpretation.
