The eleven tangos included in this anthology belong to a period in the history of tango known as ‘La Guardia Vieja’, The Old Guard. This period extends from c.1866 to c. 1920. The present collection of tangos, here published for the first time, comes to us from the intellectual legacy of Domingo Prat (1886-1944), the famous author of one of the most important reference works of the guitar, the ‘Diccionario de Guitarristas’.
