A combination 2 CDs and 1 DVD in a set including brilliant performances by legendary Cuban-American guitarist José Rey de la Torre (1917–1995). The most eminent disciple of Miguel Llobet (1878 –1938), himself the foremost student of Francisco Tarrega (1852–1909), Rey de la Torre occupies a unique and pivotal place in the development of the classical guitar in the 20th century. The present set consists of Rey de la Torre’s first three long-playing recordings of music by Fernando Sor and Francisco Tarrega, dating from the mid-1940s to 1950 - never released on CD and long sought-after by collectors! Coupled with this is Andres Segovia’s rare 1955 recording Masters of the Guitar, devoted to the work of Sor and Tarrega - never released complete on CD! In addition, the DVD offers extremely rare video footage from 1957 and 1962 of Rey de la Torre performing a variety of works from the Renaissance to the 20th century.
