Tangos de La Guardia Vieja
The eleven tangos included in this anthology belong to a period in the history of tango known as ‘La Guardia Vieja’, The Old Guard. This period extends from c.1866 to c. 1920. The present collection of tangos, here published for the first time, comes to us from the intellectual legacy of Domingo Prat (1886-1944), the famous author of one of the most important reference works of the guitar, the ‘Diccionario de Guitarristas’. Includes biographies of the original composers, notes on the music and an editors preface by Matanya Ophee. Titles are: 'De Pura Cepa' (Roberto Firpo), 'Una Noche de Garufa' (Eduardo Arolas), 'La Payanca' (Augusta Pedro Berto), 'El Compinche', 'Noche de Farra' (Roberto Firpo), 'El Irresistible' (Lorenzo Logatti), 'Mi Noche Triste' (Samuel Castriota), 'Joaquina' (Juan Bergamino), 'Entre Dos Fuegos' (Ramón Albert López Buchardo), 'Re-Fa-Si' (Enrique Pedro Delfino), 'Arganaraz' (Roberto Firpo).
