:: THE GUITAR OF ANDRES SEGOVIA
THE GUITAR OF ANDRES SEGOVIA
Andres Segovia was the first guitarist to effectively transcend the limitations perceived by a sceptical public about the classical guitar. Until his time, guitar was relegated to very minor importance compared to the lofty heights maintained by piano and violin virtuosos. This release is a homage not only to the artistry of Segovia but also to that of Hermann Hauser, the violin maker who, in 1937, built this extraordinary instrument. Containing: 1 CD with Segovia playing Bach, Haendel, Gluck, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Brahms, De Falla, Moreno Torroba, Colour Book, Full-size colour poster of the guitar, Full-size technical drawing poster of the front of the guitar, Full-size technical drawing poster of the back of the guitar, Full-size technical drawing poster of the guitars details, Photos in high resolution by courtesy of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Texts and technical drawings by Richard E. Brunè. CD contains: ‘Sicilano from Violin Sonata No. 1’, ‘Courante from Cello Suite No. 3’, ‘Bourée from Lute Suite in E minor’, ‘Gavotte from Cello Suite No. 6’, ‘Prélude from Cello Suite No. 1’, ‘Bourée from Violin Partita No. 1’, ‘Fugue for Lute BWV 1000’, ‘Chaconne from Partita No. 2 for Violin’ (JS Bach), ‘Allegretto Grazioso’, ‘Gavotte’, ‘Minuet’, ‘Sarabande’ (Handel), ‘Ballet from Orfeo ed Euridice’ (Gluck), ‘Menuet from Piano Sonata in G Major D 894’ (Schubert), ‘Song Without Words Op. 19 No. 6’ (Mendelssohn), ‘Waltz Op. 39 No. 8’ (Brahms), ‘Homenaje Le Tombeau de Debussy’ (De Falla), ‘Madronos’, ‘Sonatina I – III’ (Torroba).
